Located in Honolulu’s Chinatown and firmly rooted in the farm-to-table movement, Fête serves simple, delicious modern American dishes in a convivial setting.
With 55 covers including bar seating (ten diners) and a chef’s table (five diners), Fête is an intimate brasserie-style restaurant occupying a prime position on the corner of North Hotel Street and Nuuanu Avenue. Opened in 2016, and described on its website as ‘one part Hawai’i, one part Brooklyn’, this popular eatery has established an excellent reputation for its innovative new American cuisine and casual, refined ambiance. (Such has been its success over the last decade, a second location - the upscale bakery Mille Fête - opened on nearby Smith Street in February 2025).
Fête’s seasonal all-day menu - devised by award-winning chef and co-owner Robynne Maii - combines local island ingredients with classic culinary techniques. The result: a diverse, dynamic selection of dishes, ranging from lunchtime staples (soups, salads and sandwiches, etc) to fresh pastas, seafood specialities and premium local meats, complemented by an eclectic roster of wines, cocktails and craft beers.
Stand-out dishes include Crispy Shrimp (Kuala shrimp, tomato compote, lemon aioli), Korean Bavette (local grass-fed grilled beef, kochujang sauce, ginger-scallion rice, fried egg, Asian pear slaw), and Grilled Hawaiian Kanpachi (preparation varies daily). And we are also huge fans of the fast-becoming-iconic Chaz Burger (local grass-fed beef, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, vine-ripened tomatoes, butter lettuce, and roasted garlic aioli as standard; add bacon and or avocado for a few extra dollars) and the delicious house-made ice cream that you will most definitely want to leave room for!
Staff are friendly and knowledgable, service is seamless, and the restaurant’s cool, contemporary interior - dominated by exposed red brick, reclaimed wood and a living plant wall - adds to its cozy, urban farmhouse vibe. Open Monday through Saturday from 11:00, and Sunday from 16:00, (with last seating at 21:00 daily), Fête - which translates simply as party - is the perfect place to celebrate, whatever the occasion…
